Betting Note: Betting amounts are based on confidence level. My normal betting amounts are $125, $250 & $500, although I will go as low as $62.50 and as high as $1,000 on occasion. My most common bet is $125 and if you classify that as 1 unit, then I have made a 667.93 unit profit from 2014-2020. (full stats)

E/W (Each-Way) bets means you split that amount. So if it is a $250 E/W bet, that means $125 on them to win, $125 on them to place (Usually in the Top 5).

It’s a big week in golf with the Puerto Rico Open and the first WGC event – but don’t forget about the Africa Open, and we’re here with your Africa Open Betting Tips.

This is yet another event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Sunshine Tour. South Africans have won it every year since it began in 2008, with Louis Oosthuizen actually winning it back to back. Last year we almost saw Oliver Fisher upset the apple cart – but Thomas Aiken beat him in a playoff in a thriller.

It takes place at the 6050 meter East London Golf Club, in Eastern Cape, South Africa. It joined the European Tour as part of the 2010 tour. This tournament has grown in prize value over the years and is quite the win if you come in first.

Let’s see what we have betting tips wise:

Africa Open 2015 Betting Odds:

  1. Andy Sullivan: 9/1
  2. Jaco Van Zyl: 14/1
  3. George Coetzee: 14/1
  4. Byeong-Hun An: 16/1
  5. Darren Fichardt: 20/1
  6. Gregory Bourdy: 22/1
  7. Richard Sterne: 25/1
  8. Chris Wood: 28/1
  9. Garth Mulroy: 28/1
  10. Tjaart Van Der Walt: 30/1

And now the betting tips:

Winner #1: Jaco Van Zyl

We’ll be taking an E/W bet on Van Zyl.

Van Zyl is coming into this one on the back of some hot form – he came 2nd in the Joburg Open. We’re just hoping he hasn’t peaked too early! The South African has a hell of a course record and at second favourite – well, it’s a course where the favourites often win(Fichardt being the exception) and we really like him. In the past 4 years he has FOUR Top 5 finishes here.

Excellent course form, playing great golf at the moment – we’ll be doing a double unit bet personally on Van Zyl.

Bet: Double unit bet on Van Zyl E/W at Bovada for Americans.

Unfortunately, that’s all we have this week when it comes to the Africa Open. We DID consider Gregory Bourdy and we’ll probably throw a quarter unit bet on him for the hell of it but we can’t really recommend it. He has the ability to get in the top 5, but 22/1 really isn’t a good price considering his current form, and how he performed here last year. You need to be consistent over all 4 days and he was not.

Absolutely bloody crushing. Jaco Van Zyl was looking excellent to the point where going into round 4, he looked good for 2nd place. Sadly he had a bad 70 on Round 4, and jumped down to 6th place, 2 strokes off 3rd. Very frustrating one.

Since 2014 I've been providing free golf tips on a weekly basis. Each tournament analysis, research and writing the betting tips takes over 10 hours per tournament. That doesn’t include watching each tournament and taking notes etc. It's why I do less and less non-PGA tips these days.

I’ve delivered a lot of big winners over the years, and all I ask is if you appreciate the work I put in and so I can continue to keep the tips free, a donation is highly recommended and much appreciated.

While I obviously make enough money from my golf bets, this sort of financial support would motivate me to write more content on here. This would include golf prop bets like first round leader, head vs head and much more plus daily fantasy golf articles. Cheers!
