Betting Note: Betting amounts are based on confidence level. My normal betting amounts are $125, $250 & $500, although I will go as low as $62.50 and as high as $1,000 on occasion. My most common bet is $125 and if you classify that as 1 unit, then I have made a 667.93 unit profit from 2014-2020. (full stats)

E/W (Each-Way) bets means you split that amount. So if it is a $250 E/W bet, that means $125 on them to win, $125 on them to place (Usually in the Top 5).

This week the European Tour returns for its first event in 2016 which is the BMW South African Open.

It’s one of the first ever tournaments and it’s quite the historic tournament – that’s for damn sure. It currently takes place at the Glendower Golf Club and has taken place there for the last two years where Andy Sullivan and Morton Orum Madsen have been the victors. Last year was a great one with the 9th favourei Andy Sullivan going to a battle in the playoffs with the actual favourite Charl Schwartzel. In that one, Sullivan was the victor.

Last year we almost had a nice big win with Jbe Kruker. We noted that Kruger has erratic form but if he could be consistent he would do amazing stuff. Well he actually started off with a 66 on the first day and was leading. Then what happened? Shot an 80 the next day. We can laugh about it now thankfully.

This is the first time under its new name which is the BMW SA Open.

It’s a tricky tournament to predict so possibly just some small unit bets here. Let’s see what we got:

BMW SA Open 2016 Betting Odds:

  1. Branden Grace: 4/1
  2. Andy Sullivan: 8/1
  3. Jaco Van Zyl: 18/1
  4. Gregory Bourdy: 22/1
  5. Romain Waittel: 25/1
  6. Retief Goosen: 30/1
  7. Gary Stal: 33/1
  8. Lee Slattery: 33/1
  9. George Coetzee: 35/1
  10. David Howell: 35/1

Nicolas Colsaerts is also 35/1.

BMW SA Open Betting Tip #1: Trevor Fisher Jr.

Priced at 50/1, Trevor Fisher Jr. is someone you may not have heard of too often. He plays primarily on the Sunshine Tour where he has had a fair bit of success. He’s actually had some decent results lately on the European Tour with a 3rd placed at the Portugal Masters which was nice to see.

The key thing about Fisher is the last 4 years in this tournament – where he has had two top 10 finishes. The last two years, which are at this particular course he has went 7th and 15th.

I’ve looked at the betting options available – and the one I feel most comfortable with is 72 Hole Group Betting available at

In this one, Fisher Jnr is 3/1 in Group C, which means he just has to have a higher score than Brandon Stone, Jason Scrivener, Richard Sterne and Darren Fichardt.

I feel Trevor has the ability to do just that and have looked into all of them and don’t see any competition concerns. Really the scary one is Fichardt who we looked at briefly when doing the tips initially. However his course form is very poor and we think Fisher Jr has what it takes.

Bet: At Bovada for Americans bet Trevor Fisher Jr to win his group. Half a unit bet. If you can’t do that as you bet at a different sportsbook you can bet on a top 10 finish for him. At worst you could bet for a Top 5 finish or to win and E/W but we don’t recommend those bets unfortunately.

Since 2014 I've been providing free golf tips on a weekly basis. Each tournament analysis, research and writing the betting tips takes over 10 hours per tournament. That doesn’t include watching each tournament and taking notes etc. It's why I do less and less non-PGA tips these days.

I’ve delivered a lot of big winners over the years, and all I ask is if you appreciate the work I put in and so I can continue to keep the tips free, a donation is highly recommended and much appreciated.

While I obviously make enough money from my golf bets, this sort of financial support would motivate me to write more content on here. This would include golf prop bets like first round leader, head vs head and much more plus daily fantasy golf articles. Cheers!
