Betting Note: Betting amounts are based on confidence level. My normal betting amounts are $125, $250 & $500, although I will go as low as $62.50 and as high as $1,000 on occasion. My most common bet is $125 and if you classify that as 1 unit, then I have made a 667.93 unit profit from 2014-2020. (full stats)

E/W (Each-Way) bets means you split that amount. So if it is a $250 E/W bet, that means $125 on them to win, $125 on them to place (Usually in the Top 5).

This weeks PGA event is the Waste Management Phoenix Open – possibly MY favourite name for a golf tournament in the prestigious PGA tour.

This is of course a big one, known to most people as the Arizona Open and then the Phoenix Open. It’s the largest tournament in the PGA tour. Last years winner was Kevin Stadler. The year prior, Phil Mickelson won it for the 3rd time when he went 28 under par.

It’s been known as the Waste Management Phoenix Open since 2010, and Hunter Mahan won that tournament. It takes place on the TPC of Scottsdale in Arizona, is a par 71 and is quite the course.

There is lot of buzz around this one, and Tiger Woods is amongst the top favourites to take it. Let’s see the betting odds:

Waste Management Phoenix Open 2015 Betting Odds:

  1. Jordan Spieth: 14/1
  2. Bubba Watson: 14/1
  3. Matt Kuchar: 18/1
  4. Rickie Fowler: 20/1
  5. Patrick Reed: 22/1
  6. Tiger Woods: 22/1
  7. Phil Mickelson: 25/1
  8. Bill Haas: 25/1
  9. Hideki Matsuyama: 25/1
  10. Gary Woodland: 25/1

Thanks to Bovada for Americans for all of the betting odds for the Waste Management Phoenix Open. They always have the best, and E/W bets there are in the top 5.

A lot of people will be wanting to go with Mickelson. We’d personally recommend against that – he’s already planning on skipping some of his favourite courses this season to spend time with his family. We believe his head just isn’t in the game at this stage.

Let’s get to the betting tips:

Winner #1: Hideki Matsuyama

After a strong showing all season, Matsuyama had a really bad tournament last time out in the Sony Open, finishing 78th. He skipped the last tournament, and we think the break will be good for him.

Matsuyama has played here before – he came tied for 4th on this course last season and could have easily won it.

Matsuyama is 25/1 and that’s a good price. He’s been playing a lot of consistent golf and we hope that the Sony Open was just a blip in the radar.

Bet: Matsuyama E/W 25/1 odds at Bovada for Americans.

And unfortunately, that is it for us for the Waste Management Phoenix Open betting tips wise. We’ve crunched the numbers and ran the simulations and just nothing else is standing out to us unfortunately.

We only went with one betting tip this week, which was Matsuyama. We jumped right back on the Matsuyama train hoping that after the last tournament failure, his break would work out for him.

It did!

He came in the top 5, and we got a nice cash for that. He actually came tied for 2nd with Watson and Palmer. It could have been a lot prettier if he had just shot a little better but either way – we are well bloody happy at that cash.

Since 2014 I've been providing free golf tips on a weekly basis. Each tournament analysis, research and writing the betting tips takes over 10 hours per tournament. That doesn’t include watching each tournament and taking notes etc. It's why I do less and less non-PGA tips these days.

I’ve delivered a lot of big winners over the years, and all I ask is if you appreciate the work I put in and so I can continue to keep the tips free, a donation is highly recommended and much appreciated.

While I obviously make enough money from my golf bets, this sort of financial support would motivate me to write more content on here. This would include golf prop bets like first round leader, head vs head and much more plus daily fantasy golf articles. Cheers!
